After graduating Law in Istanbul University in 1944, Nermin Abadan Unat completed graduate studies at Minnesota University, 1952/53, and she introduced political science and women’s studies as a discipline in Ankara University. Her major area of interest is public opinion, electoral studies, constitutional issues and women’s rights. From 1963 on she focussed her interest in labour migration from Turkey to Europe, problems of migrant women, integration. After 1989 she moved to Istanbul and taught at Boğaziçi University in the Department of Political Science and International Relations. She was guest professor at Munich, Berlin, New York City, Denver, Georgetown, and UCLA – Los Angeles universities.
